The Mayo Clinic Diet

In the Mayo Clinic diet, you have a food pyramid, basically with the food that you can eat. The biggest part of the pyramid are fruits and vegetables, so you can eat an unlimited amount of them. Next we have carbohydrates like pasta, and next are proteins and dairy. On the top of the pyramid are fat and sweets, but this is a very small part of the pyramid. If you want to lose weight, using this diet, you must exercise, so, 30-60 minutes 5 times a week.

In this diet, breakfast can be made from: Banana, herbal tea, bran cereal and milk (fat-free of course) 1 cup. For lunch you can have: tuna salad, carrots, pepper strings, jicama and a small apple. For dinner you can eat: green beans, ½ cup of sliced beets and 1 cup of Bibb. This is a sample menu.

Although, this is a great diet, and very effective, there are many people who don’t have time or energy for this kind of diet. On their site are even information about, when you will be ready for this diet, how ready you are and they will provide you right steps for you.

With this diet you can satisfy your daily need for fat, protein (with a 21% of your daily need, this is one of the best diets that provides you protein), carbohydrates, fiber, potassium (it can raise blood pressure, prevent kidney stones and decrease damage of bones). You will also intake enough calcium, and we know that calcium is important for bones and for muscles and blood vessels. Vitamins V12 and D are also present in this diet, so you will satisfy your daily need for these vitamins.
