Six weight loss myths

Losing weight is not an easy thing to do, and you need to focus on this task for months to get positive results. It’s true that you can find out anything you need about dieting from the Internet, but the information that you get is not always true. There are many myths that might compromise your journey, and it’s important for you to analyze them and stay away from unhealthy habits. Here are six weight loss myths:

  • You have to eat less to lose weight. This is completely not true, as it depends more on what you eat than on how much you eat. If you eat 3 pounds of salad per day you will not gain any weight, but you will lose some. If you eat 1 pound of chocolate per day you will gain weight quickly.
  • Your water intake has nothing to do with your diet. As a matter of fact, it does. If you are dehydrated, you will be hungry and have cravings. Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.
  • If you lift weights you will gain weight. This is partially true, but many people get it wrong. Indeed, if you lift weights the number on the scale will go up, but this only because you are losing fat and gaining muscles. Your body will look amazing and you will lose inches!
  • You have to eat 3 meals per day. The truth is that the number of meals that is necessary per day depends on each person. Only you and your nutritionist can decide how often you have to eat.
  • You can lose weight by drinking green tea. Green tea is a powerful antioxidant, but if you eat fast food every day you will not lose weight no matter how much tea you drink.
  • You can lose weight and keep it off in only two weeks. There are many “miracle diets” that promise that you will lose weight in only two weeks. While this part might be true, you will be surprised to see that as soon as you get back to your normal diet, you will gain back more weight than you lost.
